The purpose of the Nui Mang Expedition is to honor the Marines who fought and fell during Operation Oklahoma Hills by returning to the exact terrain where their sacrifice took place. Led by Al Adams Moreno, a combat veteran of India Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, this ten-day jungle expedition will navigate the mountainous triple-canopy region south of Da Nang using declassified operational records, unit diaries, after-action reports, and original grid coordinates to identify and document seven significant combat locations — including the sites where three CH-46 helicopters were shot down during medevac missions in April 1969.

This expedition is an act of remembrance grounded in precision and historical fidelity. By physically traversing the same ridgelines, valleys, and contested hills, participants gain a direct understanding of the operational conditions and human cost of the campaign. The mission seeks to preserve the memory of those who served by reconnecting documented history to the land itself, ensuring that the sacrifice of these Marines remains tangible, respected, and never forgotten.
